Caroline graduated from the University of Lynchburg with a bachelors degree in Graphic design and double minors in marketing and digital media design, while working for the Lynchburg Hornets Sports Network as a student photographer. In the fall of '22, after graduating, Caroline returned to the University of Lynchburg in pursuit of her Masters in Business Administration ('24)  while working as the Digital Media and Operations Graduate Assistant for the Athletics Department, where she led photography and graphic design efforts for the department.

Currently working as the Head of Photography for the University of Lynchburg, Caroline oversees 16 student photographers and is the prime contact for photo needs at the institution for both Marketing & Communications, and Athletics. In addition, she completes graphic design projects throughout the Athletics department such as photo backdrops, championship logos, banners, wall murals, tournament badges, and more. Over the past few years, Caroline Gerke Photography has continued to grow by offering a multitude of photo services to individuals, couples, families, businesses, schools, etc. It is an honor to work with so many amazing clients and have the opportunities to make the incredible connections that I make along the way. Caroline was recognized as the College Sports Communicators Division III Photographer of the Year in 2024 and 2025, along with earning  third-place honors in the college division in both 2024 and 2025 as well.

Some past freelance clients include, but are not limited to, the Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic as an OR photographer, Rowan Athletics, NYU Athletics, VISAA Swimming and Diving, Virginia International Raceway, South Boston Speedway, and more. Other past graphic design freelance work has been done for the Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic, Virginia Tech Ice Hockey, several realty companies, Warren Enginuity Power Systems, First Presbyterian Church, Valley Farma and more.
